The public German agency “KraftfahrtBundesamt” released the official car sales data for the full year 2019. What impresses is the performance from Tesla: They managed to sell 462% more cars than the previous year 2018: 0,3% of all cars sold in 2019 were from Tesla. Yes, it still is a low number but it’s three times more than a legendary brand like Alfa Romeo sold in 2019 (0,1%). Granted I am no fan of concept cars. We now have sen so many crazy versions of them that none does “WOW” me anymore. Mercedes-Benz did display this new AVTR concept car at the CES show designed by James Cameron. The only technical highlight that might be interesting is the fact that it uses a new graphene-based organic battery. Today Sony showed this new electric car to highlight its automotive technologies. It’s named Vision-S and it’s loaded with 33 Sony sensors for autonomous driving. It also features 360 Reality Audio tech and massive wide-screen displays. The US electric car manufacturer Tesla wants to produce several models in its planned factory in Brandenburg. In Grünheide near Berlin, an estimated 500,000 electric vehicles of models 3 and Y and future models should be built and assembled each year.
